Hear from Anne who released a black cockatoo back to the wild!

“On Monday, 16th December, I was privileged to be chosen to release one of our rehabilitated Red Tail Cockatoos. The release was scheduled for 6.30pm in the John Forrest National Park. As I drove to the site and waited, it was so amazing to see a flock of wild Red Tail Cockatoos waiting in the tall trees. It was as if they knew something magical was about to happen. The pet packs with the birds were all lined up and prepped to be open on the count of 3,2 1. We all opened the doors and the sound of our Red Tail Cockatoos screeching as they were released and flew to meet the wild birds, was something I will never forget. Most of our released birds were juveniles and to see them fly free and join with the wild Red Tails was such an amazing and emotional experience. I hope to be involved in many more releases. A massive thanks to Georgia, Louise and the clinic volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure that our rescued cockatoos can be rehabilitated and released.”
