Book a Kaarakin Private Tour or an Encounter!

Kaarakin is one of Perth Hills’ most unique wildlife park, specialising in the rescue, conservation and rehabilitation of black cockatoos

Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre is located in the Banyowla Regional Park at Martin in the Perth hills, on the 16-hectare site of a former wildlife park. Since 2008, we have worked hard to transform the site as a resource for the rehabilitation and conservation of our wild black cockatoos and other native animals, in keeping with its natural bush setting.

The Kaarakin site is also home to the Australian Threatened Species Centre, who care for Alpine and Pilbara dingoes in a custom-built wild enclosure.  There are a number of former wildlife park residents including kangaroos, emus, and peacocks.

Kaarakin hosts tour weekends twice a year, but you can book a private tour for any time throughout the year*. There are options for everyone. A Kaarakin private tour is a perfect option while out on a Perth day tour!

Kaarakin Tour options – available all year round*

Full Private Tour – $150 per group, 1 hour duration*

Enjoy a guided tour around the Kaarakin site and hear about our efforts to rescue, rehabilitate and release injured, sick and orphaned black cockatoos. You will see the many purpose built aviaries onsite, including our 64-metre pre-release flight aviary as well as one of the dingo enclosures.

A highlight of the tour for many of our visitors is a visit to Jack’s Interactive Aviary. Here you will be able to get up close and personal with our friendly black cockatoo characters as they try to get your attention with their amusing antics.

A private tour is $150 for 1 – 10 people, with additional persons charged at $15 each. Many people book to come in small personalised groups of 2 – 4 people.

Black Cockatoo Encounter – $50 per person, 30 minutes duration*

Ideal for groups of 1 – 3 people. You will spend up to 30 minutes in Jack’s Interactive Aviary with our friendly resident black cockatoos. The cockatoos in this aviary are our ambassador birds for Kaarakin. These highly intelligent birds are unable to be released, so they spend their days in comfort in our giant aviary. They are a cute and crazy bunch who love nothing better than to meet new friends!

Dingo Encounter – $50 per person, 30 minutes duration*

Ideal for groups of 1 – 3 people. You will spend up to 30 minutes with our friendly Alpine dingoes, getting to know their individual personalities. They are very affectionate and enjoy spending time with visitors and their carers.
