Western Australian artist Lauren Wilhelm studied fine art and is well recognised for her oil on canvas pieces. Lauren is fascinated with everyday history with her work juxtaposing classic images and modern themes which she says are her comment on transience. She enjoys exploring the part animals play in humans lives -the realities and mythologies. Lauren has had many solo and group exhibitions from Western Australia to Spain and Italy, winning many awards along the way. Lauren has painted this original painting to support Kaarakin in our fundraising.

Angela Robertson-Buchanan is “The Bird Photographer”, an award-winning professional nature photographer, published children’s author, teacher, speaker and wildlife carer. In 2002 Angela moved to Sydney, Australia and fell in love with the nature here, especially the parrots! Angela specialises in birds, flora, fauna and macrophotography, with all sales supporting Angela’s bird rescue work, and with a percentage donated to conservation organisations like Kaarakin. In Sydney she trained as a wildlife rescuer and carer and now specialise in bird rehabilitation which is how our resident Yellow-Tailed Cockatoos Opal and Yeti came to live with us at Kaarakin who are very special to Angela as she raised and rehabbed them. Angela flew Opal and Yeti to Perth to be ambassadors for their species and increase awareness. We are very grateful for Angela’s continued support for Kaarakin.
