We welcomed students to Kaarakin for our very first school holiday program during the July break, where students could get up close to our black cockatoos.
During the school holidays on July 10, we opened our gates to families to welcome the participants in our very first school holiday program.
Children and their parents spent an action-packed morning meeting Rex the Baudin’s Black Cockatoo and our dingoes Amy and Alex, and also had the chance to visit our other unique onsite wildlife at Kaarakin.
Together, we made a stack of “cockatoo enrichment chains” (which the cockatoos have loved), we planted sunflower seeds, and saw an endless array of cockatoo creations being produced by students and their families at the craft table.
The event was a great success, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone again during the next school holidays for more Kaarakin fun and wildlife encounters.
If you’d like to participate in our next event, you’ll need to be quick as this program sold out in record time! Be sure to watch us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, and check back here for more information closer to the next school holidays for news on our next holiday program.
